
A 30-year-old
welder died on the spot after an LPG gas cylinder he was repairing exploded on
him at a yard in Embakasi area, Nairobi.
Police said Martin
Mwema Matheka was contracted to weld an LPG cylindrical gas tank on a Mercedes-Benz Actros.
While in the
process, the sparks caught the vapors, igniting a fire, which ejected him out of
the tank, killing him instantly.
The lorry was
carrying an unknown amount of gas at the time of the incident, which caused the
blast.
The fire was later contained. The badly burnt body was later moved to the mortuary pending
autopsy and investigations.
In Khayega,
Kakamega County, a woman was killed by lightning in an incident.
Police said the
body of the woman was found on the road within Mukumu Shisasari road in Shidodo
sublocation.
She was identified as Margaret Mulindi Siliya, 50.
She is said to have been on her way home from a
burial at Ebukulunya, and on reaching the scene, she was struck by lightning
during heavy rains and died on the spot.
The body that was
lying on the road with no visible injuries was moved to the mortuary for
preservation and autopsy.
Authorities advise
against walking in the rain or sheltering under trees when it rains. There is a
campaign to install harvesters in the area to address such incidents.
In Naroosura area,
Narok County, a man aged 24 died after being attacked with a poisoned arrow in a
confrontation over land.
Police said Medukenya
Toek was shot with a poisoned arrow on his right thigh, while they had invaded
a land that was being demarcated by Maji Moto Group ranch committee members.
He was rushed to a
hospital in Ngoswani market, where he succumbed to the injuries while
undergoing treatment.
The assailant is
being sought after the Saturday incident.
In Kegonga area,
Kuria, Migori County, police are investigating the death of a Tanzanian man
whose body was found in a house.
The body of
the man known as only Chacha aged about 45, was discovered long after he had
died.
The body was taken to the mortuary pending autopsy and identification, police said.
