The National Assembly's committee on Internal Security is scheduled to meet to vet three nominees for the positions of member to the National Police Service Commission (NPSC).

They are Peris Muthoni, Benjamin Juma and Colleta Suda.

CPAC meetings

Marsabit Governor Mohammud Ali and his Mandera counterpart Mohamed Khalif are set to appear before the Senate County Public Accounts Committee (CPAC) over unresolved issues raised in the report of the Auditor General on the statements for financial year 2023-24 and the report of the receiver of revenue statement of the counties.

Nairobi Hospital home blood collection services

The Nairobi Hospital will today launch the new blood collection services, a significant step in providing healthcare through enhanced convenience and patient-centred innovation.

The event will be graced by the hospital's CEO Felix Sano among other senior officials.

It will be held at the main hospital.

CPIC meetings

The Senate County Public Investment Committee (CPIC) is set to interrogate reports of the Siaya county executive on the auditor general on the statements for Sibo water and sanitation company, Siaya referral level 4 hospital, Bondo municipality, Siaya municipalit, and Ungunja municipality for financial years 2023-24.

COMESA Competition Commission, CAK workshop

The case handlers training and research and advocacy workshops will commence today in Nairobi.

It brings together experts from the COMESA regional bloc to share experiences and best practice in consumer protection.

At the event organised by the Competition Authority of Kenya (CAK) and the COMESA Competition Commission, case handlers will explore various topics including emerging consumer protection concerns in digital markets, greenwashing, product safety warrantees and guarantees among others.

Judges to give directions in case against IEBC nominees

The High Court will today issue directions in a petition challenging the nomination of IEBC chairman and six commissioners.

President William Ruto last month nominated Erastus Edung Ethekon as the next chairman of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission with Anne Nderitu, Moses Mukwana, Mary Karen Sorobit, Hassan Noor, Francis Odhiambo and Fahima Abdalla picked as commissioners.

However, petitioners Kelvin Roy Omondi and Boniface Mwangi moved to court to stop their appointment arguing their nomination was illegal and unconstitutional.

Chief Justice Martha Koome has since picked judges Bahati Mwamuye, John Chigiti and Roselyn Aburili to hear and determine the case.

The bench will today mention the case and issue directions on how it will proceed.

Rex Masai inquest

The inquest into the death of Rex Kanyike Masai resumes today at the Milimani law court in Nairobi.

Rex was shot and killed in Nairobi’s city centre as police battled anti-tax protesters in June 2024.

He was rushed to Bliss Hospital along Nairobi's Moi Avenue, where he was pronounced dead.

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) recommended an inquest to determine if murder charges should be preferred against suspects.

The inquest is being conducted by Milimani principal magistrate Geoffrey Onsarigo.

Isaiah Muraguri, one of the police officers implicated in the murder and former Nairobi region police commander Adamson Bungei are among those who have testified in the inquest.
