DCI Queens Celebrate Historic Silver Finish at KVF Finals/X

The DCI women’s volleyball team has secured a silver medal in the 2024/2025 Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) National League.

This marks their highest achievement since the team’s formation in 2018.

Making their first-ever appearance in the KVF finals, the DCI Queens pushed Kenya Pipeline to a decisive five-set thriller in Game Two of the "best of three" series.

Despite a strong showing, they narrowly lost to the former champions, who reclaimed the KVF title at the Kasarani Indoor Arena.

As the finals concluded, the DCI team walked away with their first podium finish.

Their performance earned individual accolades.

Sarah Namisi was named Best Server, while Sharon Jeruto won the Best Outside Hitter award.

Four players — Namisi, Mercy Iminza, Vivian Vukutsa, and Peninah Barasa — were selected for the provisional national squad, Malkia Strikers.

Head Coach Patrick Sang praised the team’s resilience.

“This was just but the beginning,” he said. “The team has come of age and deserves a chair at the table.”

Team Manager Neddy Kilimo echoed the sentiment. “Having tested the podium, a second position is just but a stepping stone to being crowned champions,” she said.

Though they fell short of the title, the DCI Queens won praise for their spirited performance. They now turn attention to the Kenya Cup Volleyball Tournament playoffs and their debut at the African Volleyball Club Championship.
