Detectives are investigating separate incidents where two elderly men were found murdered in villages in Kwale County.
Such cases where the
elderly are killed are rampant in the area. Police have linked land to some of
the cases.
The first incident happened in Kilibasi village, where a man was found dead in his
house.
The body of
Mwachinda Tsimba was found on the doorstep of his house after the murder on
June 4.
The body had deep
cuts on the head, which, according to police, appeared to have been inflicted by
a sharp object.
The incident seemed
to have happened at the entrance of the door because the body lay there next to
some shopping he had carried.
Police said the door
was locked then, and it is believed he was trying to open it before he fell and
died there.
The man lived alone at that time after his wife died.
His four children were away at the time of
the incident, police said.
The motive of the
murder is yet to be established.
Elsewhere in Lungalunga, Kwale County, one Alfani Salim, 69, was killed in an attack outside his house.
His body was found lying on a mart outside his house and in a pool of blood with multiple injuries to the head, neck, shoulder and wrist in Dzombo village.
Police said the deceased was seated
outside his house while his wife was busy preparing supper when the incident
happened on Wednesday evening.
The motive of the attacks is yet to be
known.
The bodies were moved to the mortuary
pending autopsy and investigations, police said.
Most of the
incidents remain under probe so far, police say.
Elsewhere in Awendo,
Migori County, a man hit and killed his two-month-old baby as he battered his
wife in a domestic dispute.
The man was arrested
after an autopsy showed the baby had died from trauma to the head.
The wife of the man had told police the baby was hit by a crowbar that the suspect was using to hit her in a domestic fight.
The police arrested the suspect and conducted an
autopsy, which showed the cause of the death.
Police said the
suspect will face murder charges. He told police the incident was accidental.
Elsewhere in
Nyakach, Kisumu County, a suspect was lynched over claims he tried to steal
from a home.
The incident happened in Wanda village.
The body of the deceased was found on the roadside
on Wednesday after the murder.
Police discourage mob lynching and term it criminal.
The police want suspects to surrender to
authorities for processing.
The police are investigating a series of mob lynching incidents reported in the country so far, police headquarters said.
