Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has dismissed reports claiming a fallout between him and Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire.
Speaking Wednesday during the National Macadamia Conference 2025, held at the Embu University Grounds, Kindiki insisted that if anything, he has no problem with any leader from Embu County.
He urged residents to ignore the rumours being spread around and anything that has not come from him or the Governor.
“There is no problem whatsoever between me and Governor Cecily Mbarire or any other leader in Embu County," Kindiki asserted.
He said: "Anyone who knows my relationship with the Embu County leaders and the people of Embu know the journey we have travelled over the years. Ignore whatever else you are hearing from anyone else."
Kindiki who also conveyed the Governor’s greetings at the conference said their focus is on delivering the Kenya Kwanza plan to the people of Embu County and the country at large.
“She will come here later and tell you herself that there's absolutely no worries or problems and we are all focused on delivering to the people of Embu and the country on the commitments we made to transform their lives through deliberate policy and administrative interventions in agricultural value chains, infrastructure development, creating jobs for millions of our citizens and improving the quality of life for all citizens," he said.
The DP’s remarks follow claims of a rift between him and Mbarire, who is also the UDA national chairperson.
Mbarire had publicly criticised certain senior national government officials, accusing them of undermining her leadership.
Speaking during the Madaraka Day celebrations in Embu County on June 1, 2025, Mbarire alleged that the particular officials had been holding night-time political meetings behind her back.
“These officials who are in government are disrespecting me, and they should stop,” she said during her speech at Makima Primary School in Mbeere, drawing cheers from the crowd," she said.
“I will not sit back and watch as backroom political deals are made behind my back.”
Earlier on, Kindiki and Mbarire held a meeting at the Karen residence, ahead of the conference.
The meeting followed another held by the DP on Tuesday with the county’s members of parliament.
