The Ministry of Education, State Department for Basic Education, has declared 1,000 vacancies for internships under the Digital Literacy Programme (DLP) Cohort 4.

In a notice on Tuesday’s issue of My Gov, the Public Service Commission said successful candidates will be appointed and deployed to schools at Sub sub-county level.

PCS assured that, in addition to acquiring practical skills and knowledge, the interns will play a critical role in supporting virtual learning and other related digital platforms.

Interested candidates must have graduated not earlier than 2020 and have a Bachelor’s degree in Education with specialisation in Information Communication Technology or a Bachelor’s degree in ICT.

Another requirement is a Diploma in ICT or ICT Integration in Education, from a recognised institution, knowledgeable in networking and infrastructure, applications development, information security and project management.

Candidates should have the ability to integrate ICT with Education in terms of E-Learning and content development, and have the requisite skills to carry out research and innovation to support the Digital Literacy Programme.

Further, they should be willing to be deployed to any Sub-County Education office on a full-time basis.

PSC noted that the internship duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, support of E-Learning and content development in line with the schemes of work, providing class support and training of Primary School teachers in the use of digital literacy devices.

Others are supporting the implementation of the Digital Learning Programme, carrying out innovations to enable schools to improve on the use of digital learning, and providing support in the safe, secure and ethical use of technology in learning.

Additionally, the interns will be expected to assist teachers by integrating ICT in the delivery of teaching, learning and assessment, support staff with the development and production of key school policies and procedures and provide first-line support and maintenance of ICT services in the schools.

PSC stated that the internship will take 12 months, during which the intern will be paid a stipend by the State Department, at a rate determined by the government.

On successful completion of the Internship Programme, the interns will be awarded a certificate by the State Department for Basic Education.

Interested and qualified applicants are requested to make their applications online through the Public Service Commission’s job portal accessible through www.publicservice.go.ke or www.psckjobs.go.ke, or www.pscims.publicservice.go.ke/jobs by June 23, 2025.
