The nominee for the position of member of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), Anne Nderitu, has a net worth of Sh138 million.

Nderitu, who currently serves as the Registrar of Political Parties, made the revelation when she appeared before the National Assembly’s Justice and Legal Affairs Committee (JLAC) on Saturday for vetting.

Nderitu told the George Murugara-led committee that wealth is made up of real estate, vehicles, shares and dairy farming.

“The source of my income is mainly from my salary and allowances. I also get dividends from saccos and shares. I run a small logistics business as well,” she said.

Murugara had just explained to Nderitu why members and Kenyans at large needed to know her worth.

“You know, IEBC is a sensitive office that you are going into if your nomination of approved by the House. Many people believe there are lucrative contracts at the IEBC which can enrich you to the disadvantage of Kenyans and the job you are supposed to do,” he stated.

Nderitu used the session to defend her nomination to serve as a commissioner of the IEBC while still serving as the Registrar of Political Parties.

She asserted that her current position does not disqualify her from seeking the role.

A seasoned public administrator from Nyandarua County, Nderitu boasts 23 years of leadership and administrative experience.

She was appointed Registrar of Political Parties in 2020 by former President Uhuru Kenyatta following a competitive recruitment process and parliamentary vetting.

Before heading the ORPP, she held several leadership roles at the IEBC, including Director of Voter Education and Partnerships, Head of Electoral Training, and Manager of Partnerships.

She is credited with designing and overseeing large-scale electoral training programmes, civic education initiatives, and stakeholder engagement frameworks.

A teacher by training, she earned a Bachelor of Education in English and Literature from Moi University in 1995, followed by a Master of Arts in Linguistics from the University of Nairobi in 2007.

She later attained a Diploma in Public Administration from the Galilee Institute of Management in Israel in 2018.
