Police have arrested two suspects believed to be behind a series of crimes in Embakasi and Kikuyu.
Through a well-coordinated operation on May 30, 2025, officers from the National Police Service apprehended the suspects at their hideout in Thogoto, Kiambu County.
“The suspects are in custody and are assisting police with investigations,” NPS said.
The suspects were found inside a vehicle whose original registration number had allegedly been tampered with and replaced by fake plates.
Upon searching the vehicle, officers recovered crude weapons believed to be used in housebreaking, master keys for car locks, number plate stickers and other items used to conceal their operations.
Police claimed that the two are linked to a series of recent break-ins and vehicle-related crimes in Embakasi area and parts of Kikuyu.
NPS commended members of the public who shared information that led to the successful arrests.
“We thank the public for their cooperation and reaffirm our commitment to serve and protect.”
On May 29, 2025, NPS arrested two suspects in Eldoret town over their suspected involvement in a mobile phone hacking and resale racket.
Officers from NPS, acting on a public tip-off and working with M-KOPA liaison personnel, raided a phone repair shop near the Eldoret Shuttle booking office.
They found the suspects flashing 28 assorted mobile phones, including devices belonging to M-KOPA.
According to police, the two are believed to be part of a broader syndicate involved in flashing stolen or credit-purchased phones to bypass payment obligations.
During the operation, officers recovered several electronic devices suspected of being used in the illegal activity.
These included two HP laptops, two CPUs, seven hard drives, one Pandora Box, one dongle, and one JTAG device.
Police say the equipment is capable of altering IMEI numbers and bypassing phone security features.
The suspects are being held at Eldoret Police Station as forensic investigations continue.
