A man surrendered to a local police station, saying he had killed his 85-year-old grandmother in Ugenya, Siaya County.
The
suspect walked to the station, saying he had killed the woman identified as
Jennifer Aduor Aoko, prompting police to visit the area in Diere village.
He claimed she was practising witchcraft, hence his move to kill her.
The
team found the body of the woman lying in a pool of blood.
It was
established that the deceased stayed with the assailant. The incident happened on
May 28.
Police
said a spade that had bloodstains was found at the scene and is
believed to have been the murder weapon.
The
body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and other investigations.
Elsewhere,
a pillion passenger was shot and killed in an ambush by unknown gunmen along the Ndumuru-Mea road, Meru County.
The
gunmen did not steal anything from the victim after the shooting on May 27
night.
A rider
told police he and the deceased, who was identified as Moses Gikundi, plus
another passenger, were headed to Mea when, on reaching Kaleso Nyange area, when
they were shot at.
Gikundi
fell off as the rider sped off from the scene.
They
reported the matter at Mea Police Station. It was not until the following day that
police visited the scene and found the body of Gikundi lying on the roadside.
He had a bullet wound on the chest. The motive of the attack is yet to be known.
In Kaptalamwa, Elgeyo Marakwet County, one Titus Kosgei
Maiyo, 26, was found dead after a suspected murder.
The man was hacked to death in a confrontation by an
assailant over a love triangle saga.
The assailant escaped the scene, and efforts to get him for
interrogation are ongoing, police said.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and other investigations.
