A 22-year-old man is on the run over the murder of a six-year-old boy in Kiminini, Trans Nzoia County.
The
incident happened in Stofa Farm area, police said of the May 28 tragedy.
The
assailant is a stepbrother of the deceased, police said.
The
motive of the incident is yet to be known.
Police
said the assailant used a hoe stick to hit the boy, killing him at the scene.
He hit
him in the head, fatally injuring him. He then vanished from the scene.
His
mother tried to intervene after being alerted, but it was too late.
The boy
died while being rushed to hospital, police said, adding the hunt for the suspect
is ongoing.
The body
was moved to a local mortuary pending autopsy and other investigations.
In Maili Saba, Trans Nzoia County, Eliud Masinde, 64, succumbed to his injuries following an assault incident.
This
followed an argument at his house with an assailant. The assailant was arrested
and will now face murder charges, police said.
Elsewhere in Tereno village, Nandi County, one Joel Koskei, 64, was fatally attacked by his five step-sons in a land dispute.
They inflicted severe visible injuries on his head using crude weapons and later escaped to an unknown place, police said.
Police visited the scene and moved the body to the mortuary pending autopsy and
other investigations.
The five men are at large, and police said they are looking for them for interrogation.
Elsewhere
in Matsangoni area, Kilifi County, a 70-year-old man was shot by an arrow and
killed in an attack.
The
motive of the attack is yet to be known, police said.
Police said the deceased, identified as Josephat Katana, was found with an arrow lodged in the ribs after
an attack by a group that was on a motorcycle.
He screamed for help and
his family rushed him to hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The assailants escaped
the scene without stealing anything from the victim.
The body was moved to a
local mortuary pending autopsy and other investigations.
Cases of the killing of
elderly people have been on the rise in the area amid a campaign to address the
menace.
This has been linked to
cultural beliefs, police say.
