In courts: Ex-MP Ndolo's case on threat charges up for directions

Former Makadara MP Reuben Ndolo will today return to court for directions in a case where he was charged with causing disturbance and threatening a city businessman.

Trial magistrate Lucas Onyina on May 22 directed that Ndolo appears physically in court alongside his seven co-accused persons for identification.

The co-accused are Daniel Otieno Juma, George Otieno, Cyrus Nyamboga Gichana, Bernard Ochieng Andai, Dick Otieno Ombaka, and Hassan Dima Wario.

They also faced charges of causing a disturbance likely to breach peace.

Last week, the accused had presented themselves virtually.

However, the court directed them to attend in person today Monday, May 26, 2025, carrying their identification cards.

Additionally, Ndolo and Juma faced charges of issuing death threats against Rashid Hamid, a director at Richland Properties Limited.

The alleged incident occurred at Bustani Garden, where they were accused of forcefully breaking in.

Ndolo and Juma were released on a Sh200,000 cash bail or a Sh300,000 bond with one surety, while the other accused secured freedom on a Sh30,000 cash bail with an alternative bond of Sh50,000.

Elsewhere in Kisumu, the ringleader of a notorious gang that has been terrorizing traders and residents around the city’s Kibuye market will today be arraigned at the Winam law courts.

The main suspect was arrested on Saturday night, May 24, by officers from Kondele police station following a tip-off from the public.

The suspect has been under investigation for a string of offenses and is expected to face multiple charges, including assault, creating disturbance, issuing death threats as well as malicious damage to property according to investigators.

The alleged crimes were committed on diverse dates in 2025 where the market has witnessed a string of unrest following a tussle between the county government and traders.

A second suspect was also arrested during the operation. They are both expected to take plea today.
