

Defence CS Soipan Tuya has made an inspection tour of the ongoing construction of the greenfield 60,000-seater capacity Talanta Sports City Stadium in Nairobi County.
The Talanta Sports City in Jamhuri, which is set to redefine the city's sports landscape, was launched by President William Ruto.
“The football/rugby specific Stadium, currently 45 per cent complete, will be one of the venues for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) that Kenya will co-host with Uganda and Tanzania,” she said on Thursday.
She noted that hosting the prestigious championship would come with many benefits, alongside putting Kenya on the international map in the sporting arena.
‘’The
iconic sports city that includes the stadium and auxiliary facilities will
expand Kenya, offering us a sporting destination of choice in Africa, add to
Nairobi City's stadium infrastructure and open up the sports value chain for
business and employment creation,’’ she said.

Talanta is among several flagship government infrastructure projects that the Ministry of Defence (MOD) is overseeing through the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF).
Present were Defence PS Dr Patrick Mariru and Commander of KDF’s Engineering Brigade Brig Joseph Mutua, among other senior government and military officials.
In a
meeting , Tuya said that Sh44.7 billion
has been set aside for the Talanta stadium, with Sh2 billion, which is a portion of
the funds, having already been paid to the Chinese firm contracted to build it.
