Deputy President Kithure Kindiki presided over an economic empowerment event at Etago, South Mugirango, Kisii County on Thursday, May 22, 2025.

The event was held to support micro and small-scale traders in South Mugirango Constituency.

Kindiki encouraged the traders to join Saccos through which the government will provide assistance to help them grow and expand.

 Kindiki said that Sh50,000 will be provided as working capital for 70 youth-owned micro and small businesses in all the nation’s wards through the Sh28 billion Nyota Programme to expand and create jobs for the youth.

He said the government is also building 400 modern markets nationwide, including 21 in Kisii County, to support small businesses and boost grassroots economic growth.

The event was attended by several MPs, including Sylvanus Osoro (South Mugirango), Daniel Manduku (Nyaribari Masaba), Dorice Donya (Kisii), and other national leaders.
