Ruto dances with grassroot leaders from Ukambani ahead of his development tour

President William Ruto, Labour CS Alfred Mutua, and gospel musician Stephen Kasolo were spotted dancing at State House, Nairobi, ahead of Ruto's development tour in Ukambani.

The President engaged with grassroots leaders from Machakos, Makueni, and Kitui counties.

Speaking during the meeting with the grassroots leaders from Ukambani, Ruto emphasised that Kenya can’t transform when decisions are made merely for convenience.

“Kenya can only be changed when we make difficult but right decisions,” Ruto stated on his official X account.

“Tough decisions, tough choices that speak to the destiny of our people.”

He urged all leaders to build synergy and marshal resources for investments that will stimulate overall economic growth.

The development tour includes visits to key projects such as Konza City, Thwake Dam, and Wote Stadium.

He was also scheduled to commission the Emali–Ukia Road and inspect progress on the Kibwezi–Kitui–Bondoni Road, specifically the Kwa Siku to Bondo section.

On May 21, 2025, Matungulu residents welcomed Ruto to the Ukambani region ahead of his much-anticipated development tour.

This comes despite the rescheduling of the tour, which was initially set to begin on May 21, 2025.

It has now been pushed to next week.

Speaking to journalists, a section of grassroots leaders from Matungulu said they are keen to tap into the government’s ongoing development agenda.

The grassroots leaders noted that they are ready to walk the journey with Ruto.

“We are expecting our President, William Ruto, who will be visiting, and we welcome him. This is a metropolitan area, and we have people from all walks of life. Our leader is in the opposition, but we want development,” the grassroots leaders said.

Kasolo, who sings gospel songs, is among the grassroots leaders that the president met with on Wednesday.  At the State House, the president engaged with grassroots leaders from Machakos, Makueni and Kitui counties. The tour aims at addressing crucial issues affecting the Ukambani region.
