Deputy President Kithure Kindike inspected the ongoing construction at the Merti Solar-Diesel Hybridisation Power Plant in Isiolo North Constituency on May 21, 2025.

The Merti Power Plant is being constructed at a cost of 335 million to provide stable and eco-friendly power supply to Merti town and its environs.

The project is 95 per cent complete.

According to Kindiki, the government is running electricity projects worth Sh1.1 billion within Isiolo county including Sh711 million for last mile connectivity projects.

Another Sh122 million is under the Kenya Off-Grid Solarisation Programme.

During the visit the DP was accompanied by Isiolo County Leaders Abdi Guyo (Governor), Mumina Bonaya (Woman Rep), Mohamed Roba (Assembly Speaker) as well as Principal Secretaries Alex Wachira (Energy), Sylvia Museiya (Wildlife), Mohamed Liban (Petroleum), security officials and residents were present.
