The Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Kenya Guo Haiyan has commended Kenya's Affordable Housing Project and the Taifa care programmes being rolled out by the government.

She described the two programmes as revolutionary initiatives that enhance the social welfare of the Kenyan population.

Her remarks come on the same day President William Ruto presided over the official handover of 1,080 housing units to beneficiaries at Mukuru's housing project in Embakasi South.

Spanning 56 acres and comprising 13,248 housing units, the Mukuru project is a testament to the Kenya Kwanza government’s commitment to providing dignified living spaces for all Kenyans.

Haiyan made her remarks when she paid a courtesy visit to UDA chairperson Cecily Mbarire at the party headquarters, Hustler Plaza.

UDA secretary general Senator Hassan Omar Hassan was also present.

The meeting focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation between China and Kenya, as well as fostering relations between the countries two ruling parties; Communist Party of China (CPC) and UDA Party.

The meeting served as a follow-up to Omar's recent visit to China, reinforcing commitments made and exploring avenues for practical implementation.

Omar led UDA's delegation to China on April 12 with the party sayiong in a statement the visit aimed at strengthening Kenya-China bilateral relations through political collaboration and development partnerships.

"The visit aims at enhancing UDA and CPC, party-to-party collaboration, and in return strengthen Kenya's bilateral relations with China in all spheres. China is certainly a valued partner in our development," the statement read.

During Tuesday's meeting, both parties affirmed their commitment to the continued collaboration within the framework of mutual respect and strategic partnership.

Mbarire, who is the Embu Governor, extended a formal invitation to the Ambassador to visit her county.
