An 11-year-old boy was electrocuted in an incident in Embakasi Villa, Nairobi.

The boy was standing on the balcony of their rented house on the fourth floor when the incident happened, police and witnesses said of the May 18 incident.

According to police, the incident happened after a lorry drove past the house and touched low-hanging live wires.

The wires swung and touched a metallic grill where the boy was standing, electrocuting him.

Neighbours responded to the scene and rushed the boy to hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The body with visible injuries on the left hand fingers was moved to Nairobi Funeral home, awaiting post-mortem.

The lorry driver drove away oblivious of the incident.

Police said they are investigating the incident.

Such incidents are common in informal settlements and officials blame illegal power connections for the same.

Meanwhile, police are investigating a murder incident in a case where a body of a man was found on the roadside in Kibera slums, Nairobi.

The body was found outside a structure near the Railways police post.

Police said the body, which had no physical injuries, was taken to the City Mortuary awaiting identification and postmortem examination.

In Tharaka Nithi, a man was found dead in his house.

Police visited the scene and said the body of Robert Kathenya, 73, was found while seated with his head lowered.

The deceased was last seen on May 16 at a local market while the body was found two days later.

The body was moved to a local mortuary for preservation and awaiting autopsy.

In Murukutwa location at Chesogoch centre, Elgeyo Marakwet, a man was found dead after a shooting incident.

Police said they found the body of Boniface Ingote, 40, with three gunshot wounds, lying lifeless in a room at the back of a motorcycle spare shop, where he had been employed as a mechanic.

At the scene, a spent cartridge of 7.62mm special and two bullet heads of the same caliber were recovered, police said.

Police said they are investigating murder in the incident.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and investigations.
