Mumias East MP Peter Salasya has been presented before the Milimani Magistrate’s Court, following his arrest on Friday.
The Star is yet to establish the nature of his charges.
His aide confirmed the arraignment in a statement posted on his X page.
" Peter Salasya arraigned at Milimani Law Courts. His legal team waited outside Court 6 all morning, but the magistrate announced an error in the charge sheet. The case has now moved to Court 2, and we have to wait. Seems someone is managing this matter," the aide said.
Salasya was arrested along the Isiolo-Nanyuki highway and locked up at Nairobi Central Station.
Following his arrest on Friday, the MP said the persons who had arrested him introduced themselves as Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officers.
He said they ambushed his convoy, shot at his
vehicle, and disarmed his security team.
“I have just been attacked by unknown
individuals claiming to be DCI officers,” Salasya wrote on his social media.
“They disarmed my security team, shot at my
vehicle, and pursued me. One of my guards managed to help me flee into nearby
bushes for safety.”
According to the legislator, multiple vehicles intercepted his convoy, shot at the tires of his four-wheel drive, and immobilised the car.
Salasya was reportedly returning from political engagements in Meru and Isiolo and was headed to Nanyuki for a series of rallies when the incident occurred.
