The Foundation will allocate Sh4.5 million to support one school each in Baringo, Turkana, and Machakos counties, while two schools in Nairobi county will collectively receive Shs2.5 million during the 2024-25 financial year.

The funds will facilitate the renovation of dilapidated classrooms and the completion of key refurbishment projects, aiming to create better learning conditions for students.

Speaking during a Sh1.5 million cheque handover ceremony at Nairobi School, Logan Christi Hambrick, chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Kenya Power Foundation and a Member of the Kenya Power Board of Directors, reaffirmed the Foundation’s enduring commitment to supporting education initiatives nationwide.

“Kenya Power Foundation is pleased to continue this journey that began late last financial year in this school. Today’s cheque handover will help complete a key refurbishment project, and we’re equally excited about ongoing education initiatives in Baringo, Turkana, and Machakos counties,” Hambrick said.

Hambrick further highlighted the Foundation’s ambition to expand its impact, stating, “We have plans to scale this up in all the counties, and we are inviting all the like-minded individuals and institutions to join us in undertaking this cause.”

She noted that the Foundation aims to leverage strategic partnerships through collaborations, MoUs, and sponsorships to maximise its reach and effectiveness.

In addition to rehabilitating learning facilities and constructing educational infrastructure, the Kenya Power Foundation intends to provide endowment funds and scholarships for students in marginalised communities.

Launched in September 2024, the Kenya Power Foundation marks a significant milestone in the company’s commitment to sustainable social responsibility initiatives across all 47 counties, with a focus on empowering communities and “lighting lives.”

The Foundation’s work is structured around three key pillars: education and skills development, energy and environment, and social investment and community wellness.
