A section of the Nairobi Expressway will temporarily be closed on Saturday at 11pm till early Sunday morning at 5am, Moja Expressway has announced.

In a public notice, Moja Expressway said the road will be closed at the Museum Hill Exit A.

“Please plan your routes accordingly or use the Haile Selassie Exit,” the company said.

The company noted that the closure will facilitate construction and maintenance works.

Motorists using the Nairobi Expressway were told they may experience temporary traffic snarl-ups because of the closure.

In April, Moja Expressway closed Mlolongo Toll Station and Syokimau Entrance A (located opposite Dinlas Pharma).

The tolls were closed from 10:00 pm on Saturday, April 12, 2025, to 8:00 am on Sunday, April 13, 2025.

The closure was meant to allow for the safe continuation of construction work on the Katani pedestrian overpass.

The Nairobi Expressway is a 27-kilometre toll road from Mlolongo to the James Gichuru junction.

It is managed and operated by Moja Expressway under a public-private partnership.

The Nairobi Expressway was built with the vision of revolutionising Nairobi’s transportation system and alleviating congestion.

As part of China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), the Expressway exemplifies the country’s commitment to addressing Kenya’s infrastructural deficit, alongside other major projects like the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR).
