Prince Harry/Handout

Prince Harry is a name not new to many people, especially the media.

Last week, Harry, who stepped down as a working royal and moved to the United States with his wife and children was once again in the news.

Once again, it was because of a fight with the Royal family that has lasted in the corridors of justice for at least five years.

The dispute between Prince Harry and the government arose after he and Meghan stepped down from frontline royal duties in January 2020 and moved overseas.

The Duke of Sussex has lost a legal challenge over the levels of security he and his family are entitled to while in the UK.

Prince Harry had been seeking to overturn a decision by the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (Ravec) that had downgraded his security after he stopped being a working royal.

Ravec authorises security for senior royals on behalf of the Home Office.

His lawyers argued that he had been singled out for inferior treatment

The Court of Appeal, however, upheld that there had been nothing unlawful about how the decision had been reached.

After losing the case, Prince Harry, in an interview with the BBC said that he would like to reconcile with his family.

He, however, said that he knows there are some members who may never forgive him for writing a book, but there is no point in continuing to fight.

He added that his father has the power to bring all issues around his security to an end, but he won’t talk to him.

“There is a lot of control and ability in my father's hands, also that this whole thing could be resolved through him, not necessarily by intervening, but by stepping aside, allowing the experts to do what is necessary. There have been so many disagreements, differences between some of my family members and I; this current situation that has been ongoing for five years in regard to human life and safety is the only thing that is left.

“Some members of my family will never forgive me for writing a book and for lots of things, but I would love reconciliation with my family. There's no point in continuing to fight anymore, life is precious. I don’t know how much longer my father has, he won’t speak to me because of this security staff, but it would be nice to reconcile... If they don’t want that, that's entirely up to them,” Harry said.

The Duke of Sussex added that he does not see a possibility of bringing his children to the UK, a country he loves so much and still misses.

“I can’t see a world in which I will be bringing my wife and children back to the UK at this point and they are going to miss everything. I love my country despite what some people in the country have done. I miss the UK and I think that it's really quite sad that I won’t be able to show my children my homeland.”

The King was diagnosed with cancer in February 2024 and continues to receive treatment to date.

According to communication from the Royal Family, the treatment is said to be successful and the King is getting better.
