

Chief Justice Martha Koome has extended the term of the National Council on the Administration of Justice (NCAJ) Committee on Anti-Corruption for another three years, while making new appointments to key positions within the justice sector.
In a Gazette Notice dated May 2, Koome who also chairs the NCAJ announced that the committee will continue its mandate until 2028.
This is with an expanded role that includes overseeing the implementation of the Anti-corruption strategic guiding framework for the justice sector, 2025.
The CJ appointed Abdi Mohamud to represent the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, Lady Justice Lucy Njuguna (Judiciary), and Mercy Gateru (Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions) as new members of the committee.
Emily Mubichi and Julliet Owala were named joint secretaries.
Koome also revoked the appointments of former EACC CEO Twalib Mbarak and Justice Sifuna Nixon which were through Gazette Notice No. 12403 of 2023 as well as Susan Ouko and Grace Murungi (Gazette Notice No. 10361 of 2023).
Additionally, Margaret Wanyoike was appointed secretary of the NCAJ Working Committee on Information, Communication and Technology (ICT).
They replace Jackie Mulwa and Irene Omari whose appointments under Gazette Notice No. 8776 of 2022 were revoked.
In separate appointments, Koome, in her capacity as chairperson of the National Council for Law Reporting, confirmed the nomination of Linda Riziki Emukule and Raphael Wambua Kigamwa by the Law Society of Kenya to the council for a three-year term effective March 13, 2025.
She also reappointed Bett Jackson Kiprotich as chairperson and Katina Robert Mnangat as vice chairperson of the Micro and Small Enterprises Tribunal for a five-year term starting January 16, 2025.
The NCAJ was established in 2011 under Section 34 of the Judicial Service Act (No. 1 of 2011).
It serves as a high-level policymaking, coordination, and oversight mechanism, bringing together state and non-state actors to strengthen the administration of justice.
The NCAJ Committee on Anti-Corruption is focused on combating corruption within the justice sector.
The committee works to develop and implement strategies to prevent and respond to corruption, including developing a guiding framework and promoting integrity within the justice system.
