Githunguri Member of Parliament Gathoni Wamuchomba has declared her intention to one day lead the nation, promising a radical shift in accountability and governance.

In her vision of economic transformation, she outlined an ambitious plan to turn Kenya’s untapped labour potential into tangible wealth, centered around a revitalised cottage industry.

Among her proposals is to create and subsidise cottage industries nationwide, ensuring every home with a backyard contributes to local production, whether it be toothpicks, towels, belts, or kitchenware.

“One day I will lead this country. I will turn around available labour to riches. I will introduce cottage special zones with a special power and water rates, establish a national symposium for our cottage industry, create a national award system for the cottage best innovators and create a cottage fund for incubation in Every county,” she stated.

She also proposed turning idle stadiums to cottage markets from 6pm to 1am daily, with a special cleaning squads as well as taking advantage of the local industry to process agricultural products to support value addition.

“When I’m president, we will not export raw macadamia and coffee and tea but rather will process locally and sell final goods. I will revamp agricultural mechanisation unit to support in value addition,”

“When I’m president, women of Kenya will wear local hair wigs made here from banana fibres and biodegradable. All sanitary towels will be made here from biodegradable fibres,” she outlined her manifesto.

The MP further decried Kenya's borrowing appetite, which has seen its total debt obligation baloon to over Sh11 trillion.

In a move to ensure transparency and accountability, the legislator vowed to attach all her personal wealth to the state upon assuming the presidential office, setting a precedent she would expect every cabinet appointee, chief executive officers of parastatals and board members to emulate.

The principle, she explained, is if public officials cannot account for the funds under their stewardship, the people should have the right to recover the losses from their wealth.

“One day I will lead this nation to prosperity. I will attach all my wealth to the state as a president. My cabinet nominees, all CEOs of parastatal and all boards member’s nominees will have to do so," she said.

She explained what that means.

Attaching your wealth to the state, she said, means if one cannot account for funds in their possession, Kenyans will recover the wealth. I

"Is this a good deal? Lets rescue Kenya,” she said.
