The Office of the Clerk of the National Assembly has dismissed as fake a letter that claims that a number of several prominent individuals have been nominated for vetting to occupy positions of cabinet secretaries in government.
The individuals allegedly nominated in the letter dismissed as fake by Parliament are former Interior CS Fred Matiang’i, former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s brother Muhoho Kenyatta, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, lawyer Makau Mutua, former Agriculture CS Peter Munya, Mukhisa Kituyi, and Ambassador Koki Muli.
The letter surfaced on different platforms on social media with claims that it emanated from the office of the Clerk of the National Assembly, which the Clerk Samuel Njoroge has since dismissed.
“We wish to categorically state that the said letter is fraudulent, misleading, and does not originate from the National Assembly or any of its authorized offices,” Samuel Njoroge, the Clerk of the National Assembly, said.
“No such nominations have been made, and the document should be treated with the contempt it deserves.”
Njoroge further urged the public to always rely on official communication from the National Assembly, which is disseminated through its official channels, including its website and verified social media pages.
“We further urge citizens to be vigilant and refrain from spreading unverified information that may cause unnecessary confusion,” Njoroge said.
