
One person was injured and admitted to hospital following a fire incident in Mukuru Kwa Njenga slums, Nairobi.
More than 80 structures were flattened in the fire incident, which left many homeless in Vietnam Village on Sunday December 15 night.
Police said they are yet to know the cause of the fire incident.
A response team was dispatched to the site, where four minor casualties were treated and one taken to hospital.
The team, led by the Nairobi City County Fire Brigade, helped contain the inferno.
An assessment by the Kenya Red Cross noted that approximately 70 households and 10 businesses were affected.
Those whose structures were affected have asked for help to rebuild them.
In Nakuru, an unknown number of shops were burnt in an incident along Moses Mudavadi Road, next to Visa Oswal Temple.
Police officers who visited the scene established that a huge smoke of fire had engulfed a wooden building housing a hotel and an M-Pesa shop.
With the assistance of the Nakuru County Fire Brigade and residents, they successfully contained the fire.
The cause of the fire is yet to be known.
Elsewhere in Kondele, Kisumu County, a vendor is admitted to a hospital with serious burns after a live wire fell on him.
The vendor was selling wares in the Lakebreeze area when the incident happened, police said.
According to police, he sustained severe burns to his posterior and left ankle and he was rescued and taken to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital for medical treatment.
Personnel from Kenya Power were called and informed of the incident to take necessary measures.
Cases of electrocution have been on the rise with illegal power connections being the leading causes of the same.
Other victims are electrocuted while pruning trees near live wires oblivious of the dangers hanging there.
Officials have urged caution and the use of professionals in installing power to address the menace.
