The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission is investigating a South Rift MP over alleged forgery of academic certificate.

This is according to an EACC letter seen by the Star dated July 31, 2024, and addressed to the Vice Chancellor, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT).

The letter states that it is investigating an allegation of forgery of documents.

The EACC  wants the University to provide information on whether the MP enrolled and graduated with a Diploma Certificate in Community Development.

"Furnish us with documents used by the officer to enroll for the said course," EACC adds.

Contacted for comment, EACC Spokesperson Eric Ngumbi confirmed the probe.

"Yes, the Commission has opened an inquiry into this matter following an intelligence report received in July 2024," Ngumbi said.

"The outcome of the investigation will reveal whether or not the allegations have any merit."

If found to have forged the academic papers, Ngumbi said the law will take its course.
