Attorney General Justin Muturi has joined national leaders in expressing his profound grief over the tragic death of Madaraka Law Courts principal magistrate Monica Kivuti.
Describing the incident as an "unimaginable act of violence", Muturi extended his deepest sympathies to her family while lauding her as a dedicated servant of the law.
In a heartfelt statement, Muturi also emphasised the critical importance of ensuring the safety of judicial spaces.
"As we grieve, let us also reflect on the need to ensure that our places of justice remain safe havens for all who serve and seek justice within them," he stated.
The AG condemned Kivuti's murder as a shocking event that has deeply affected the justice system.
"This senseless act has not only robbed us of a respected judicial officer but has also shaken the very foundations of the justice system which she so diligently upheld," he said.
Highlighting her invaluable contributions to the Judiciary, Muturi further praised her fairness, relentless pursuit of justice, and compassion.
"Her loss is a significant blow to the legal community and to all those who were touched by her wisdom," he lamented.
In light of the tragedy, Muturi urged the nation to honour Kivuti's legacy by taking decisive actions to prevent such incidents in the future.
He called for concrete steps to enhance security measures in judicial environments, ensuring they remain secure for all personnel and visitors.
Kivuti was shot on Thursday afternoon at the Makadara Law Courts after she made a ruling in a case involving a policeman's wife.
She cancelled the bond terms of an accused person who had absconded court hearings in a fraud case.
The accused was wife to the officer identified as Chief Inspector Samson Kipchirchir Kipruto, officer in charge of a police station in Londiani in Kisumu.
Aggrived by the decision, the senior officer sneaked into the dock section through the magistrate's door, pulled out a gun and shot the magistrate in the hip region and the chest.
Kivuti succumbed to her injuries at the Nairobi Hospital Friday night.
