The Public Service is set for a digital transformation as a unified Human Resource (HR) information system which will be rolled out nationwide.
Speaking during the 2024-25 Budget reading on Thursday, Treasury Cabinet Secretary Njunguna Ndung'u announced the launch date for the system set for July 1, 2024, aiming to streamline HR processes for the entire public sector.
"The government will roll out a unified HR information system for the entire public sector starting July 1, 2024," Njuguna said.
Njuguna added that the system consolidates human resources and payroll data in public service for access through a single warehouse.
He said the system has been linked to the Kenya Revenue Authority High tax to facilitate filing of payee returns.
These reforms will eliminate the multiple, manual and standalone payroll systems that the salary elimination commission will continue to streamline the allowances paid in public sector through harmonisation.
