The Judiciary has been allocated Sh24.7 billion in the 2024-25 budget.
This includes Sh900 million for the construction and refurbishment of courts and Sh800 million for the automation of the judiciary.
The amount was announced by Treasury Cabinet Secretary Njuguna Ndung' u on Thursday afternoon as he read the 2024-25 Budget estimates.
"This is to enable the administration of justice," he said.
In the Financial Year 2023-24, the Judiciary had been allocated a budget of Sh22.4 billion.
The FY 2024/25 budget represents the second budgeting cycle of the Kenya Kwanza government.
Ndung'u also proposed Sh4 billion for the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, Sh4.2 billion for the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), Sh6.9 for the State Law Office and Sh8.7 for the Office of the Auditor General.
The 2024-25 budget is estimated to cost Sh3.91 trillion. Of the amount, Sh1.58 trillion is meant for recurrent expenditure, Sh727.9 billion for development expenditure, Sh1.21 trillion for consolidated fund services and Sh400 billion for county equitable share.
To foot this budget, the government targets to collect Sh2.91 trillion from ordinary revenue and Sh441 billion from ministerial appropriation in aid.
The National Treasury has estimated a deficit of Sh508.9 billion of which it seeks to acquire Sh257.9 billion from borrowing from domestic lenders.
The remaining amount of Sh256.7 billion will be sourced from international lenders.
