50-year-old Nairobi man, boy killed in fire incidents

Bungei said they are yet to establish the cause of the fire.

FIRE INCIDENT

A 50-year-old man was burnt to death in a fire incident in Mukuru slums, Nairobi.

Police said about 47 iron sheet-made houses were flattened by the fire trapping Musembi Wambua on Monday night.

The fire left many homeless before it was contained by the fire brigade from the Nairobi County Government.

Bungei said they are yet to establish the cause of the fire.

The badly burnt remains of the man were moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and other processes.

In Kilifi’s Mtaani area, a two-year-old boy was killed in a fire incident.

The mother of the boy told police she had taken two other siblings to a nearby school and left the deceased in the house when the incident happened on Monday morning.

She said she returned and found her house on fire and her son was burned beyond recognition.

Household goods of unknown amount were also burnt in the incident.

The body was moved to Kilifi Referral Hospital morgue for autopsy, police said.

Police said they are yet to establish the cause of the fire.
