Information Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo has pledged to support Gor Mahia towards establishing a clubhouse.
Owalo, a fan of the team, said the team started the season off with a new bus, making transportation easy for players.
In the long term, however, the CS who spoke at Sportpesa Arena in Murang’a county during a match between Gor and Muhoroni Youth said he would work with the club to purchase land on which a clubhouse will be constructed for the players.
The clubhouse will also have houses for players, a pitch, a fitness centre and all other amenities necessary for a club.
Owalo lauded the team for winning the championships after beating Muhoroni Youth in a match that opened up an eleven-point gap with three games remaining to the end of the season.
This means the team will once again represent Kenya in the 2024/25 CAF Champions League.
Owalo challenged K’Ogalo to start preparing early enough for the continental championship after dominating the local one.
“It has been a good season and I want to congratulate the team for winning the league one more time. However, because this is now becoming ordinary, we should now go ahead and win the continental championships," he said.
The CS awarded Sh300,000 to Gor Mahia and Sh200,000 to Muhoroni Youth and pledged to host the team once they are officially crowned.
The club’s chairperson Ambrose Rachier, who was overwhelmed with joy after the win, lauded the CS for being a long-standing fan of the team.
Rachier further congratulated his players for playing professional football which he likened to the kind played in international leagues.
“These players have been excellent in their performance. We are going to reinforce the playing unit right away. We want to look into places where we need reinforcement and we’re starting with the friendly against Nigeria's Enugu Club."
“We’re also going to play Cecafa and CAF. We will not be sleeping but working,” he said while lauding the team’s supporters for standing with them.
