The mandatory evacuation of people living in flood-risk areas has started.
This comes just a day after Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki issued orders urging everyone to move.
He said the evacuations will be conducted strictly between 6 am to 6.30 pm.
President William Ruto also emphasized this Friday directing the county security committees to determine on a case-by-case basis the radius of areas requiring vacation or mandatory evacuation orders.
“The county security committees are further directed to continuously monitor other dams or water reservoirs across the country that may not be presenting a risk now but could do so in the event of further precipitation,” Ruto said.
