Journalist Rita Tinina will be buried next week Wednesday, March 27 in Narok.
The service and burial will be at their home, Noosupeni Farm Olokirikirai, Narok starting at 10.00 am.
Funeral arrangement meetings are being held at the All Saint's Cathedral from 5.30 pm.
There will be a requiem mass held at Holy Family Basilica on March 25, from 10.00 am.
"The cortege will leave Umash Funeral Home Nakuru on March 27, 2024, at 7.00 am for the funeral," a death and funeral announcement seen by The Star stated.
According to the announcement, Tinina was the beloved daughter of the late Dominic and the late Mary Yiapan.
"She was the mother of Mia Malaikah and loving partner of Robert Nagila," read the announcement.
"She was also deeply cherished as a sister-in-law of Timothy, Roshen, Belmont, Agnes and Macharia."
She was a beloved sister of Helen, Irene, Justine, Jedidah, Keen and Claudia.
An autopsy conducted on March 19 revealed Tinina died of severe pneumonia.
Speaking from Umash Funeral Home, family spokesperson Timothy Njaga said they were satisfied with the results.
“We had come here to witness the postmortem and it was completed by Dr Ndegwa and the family pathologist. We have been given the results that the late Rita died of severe pneumonia,” he said.
Njaga said government pathologist Peter Ndegwa conducted the autopsy in the presence of the family pathologist.
Some of the journalists present during the exercise included Kenya Editors Guild president Zubeida Kananu and Kenya Parliamentary Journalists Association chairman Duncan Khaemba among others.
Rita Tinina was found dead on Sunday, March 17, in her Kileleshwa house.
She was found dead in her room by her house girl.
After the news of her death broke, several leaders and journalists sent their condolences.
President William Ruto condoled with the family of Tinina and described her as a pioneer and trailblazer in Television journalism in the country.
"My sincere condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Rita Tinina a pioneer and a trailblazer in TV journalism. Rest in peace, Rita," he said.
The Kenya Editors' Guild said that the departed journalist left a lasting impact in the media space.
In a statement, the Editors' Guild said Rita excelled as a TV reporter and later on as an editor.
The Guild said her contributions were invaluable, and have left a lasting impact on the media landscape.
"The Kenya Editors’ Guild is deeply saddened by the passing of Rita Tinina, a distinguished television journalist in Kenya. Until her untimely demise, Rita served as an Output Producer at NTV, showcasing her talent and dedication in the field," Editors Guild president Zubeida Kananu said.
Tinina was a senior reporter at Nation Media Group's NTV having re-joined the Group in October 2023.
