Kuria-led ministry reassigns 135 senior officials in public service overhaul

The affected ministries and departments are required to release the selected officers immediately.

The Public Service Ministry led by CS Moses Kuria has initiated a major shake-up resulting in the reassignment of several senior officials.

Principal Secretary at the  State Department for Public Service Amos Gatheka in a letter listed all 135 officers who have been transferred from one department to another.

"The following posting has been agreed upon and should be effected immediately," reads the letter dated March 14, 2024

One of the affected offices includes the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions where five officers have been targeted.

Victor Mule, Grace Murungi, Lillian Okumu, Christine Nanjala and Reubene Ekai have been moved from the ODPP to the Office of the President.

Also affected are three former county commissioners who had been stationed at the State Department for Internal Security and National Administration.

Amos Mariba and Joseph Kanyiri have been posted to the Office of the President at State House as Security Administration and as Secretay administration at the National Counter Terrorism Centre respectively.

Isaac Masinde also stationed at the State Department for Internal Security and National Administration has been moved to the Ministry of Defence.

PS Gatheka noted that the affected ministries and departments are required to release the affected officers immediately but not later than March 28, 2024.

The letter was also copied to CS for Public Service Moses Kuria, Chief of Staff  Felix Koskei and Public Service Commission CEO Simon Rotich.
