Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has pledged to buy a new bus for  Kapsabet Boys High School.

This is after the school's bus was involved in a road accident on Saturday that resulted in the loss of a student and a teacher's life.

Speaking while visiting the school on Sunday, the DP said he would talk to his boss,  President William Ruto to gift the school another one.

"I will talk to him (Ruto) later in the day and I am sure that the President will give you another bus to replace that one so that you are able to continue with your tours," Gachagua said.

The President is an alumni of the institution.

At the same time, the deputy president cautioned school bus drivers to exercise care and vigilance while ferrying students on the roads.

“I have been told about the bus that has been written off, and I want to give a commitment on behalf of President William Ruto, I will talk to him later in the day and I'm sure, there's no doubt that the President will give you another bus,” Gachagua noted.

The DP insisted that this was necessary so that the school could continue embarking on tours across the country.

According to a police report on Saturday, the bus driver lost control while negotiating a sharp corner and landed at the bottom of a steep slope.

The rescued students have been rushed to different hospitals.

A student and a teacher succumbed to their injuries.
