President William Ruto navigated a packed schedule this week, orchestrating a series of high-level meetings and engagements across various sectors. Here's a recap of his week:
At the beginning of the week, President Ruto on Monday convened a gathering of Kenya Kwanza MCAs at State House, Nairobi.
The assembly was convened to assess the progress of the Kenya Kwanza government and strategize on future coalition endeavours.
During this meeting, Ruto briefed the MCAs on party affairs and tasked them with disseminating the alliance's manifesto at the grassroots level.
He emphasized the importance of grassroots engagement and urged the MCAs to enthusiastically communicate the UDA's manifesto to citizens.
Moreover, he advocated for transparency and accountability by proposing potential amendments to Standing Orders to allow County Executive Committee members to address assembly inquiries.
“We want to enhance transparency and accountability,” Ruto said.
Continuing his engagements, President Ruto later that evening met with Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja and selected County Executive Committee Members to deliberate on matters concerning the capital.
The meeting, attended by specific Principal Secretaries, aimed to enhance governance and administrative efficiency in Nairobi.
On Tuesday, the Head of State engaged in discussions with leaders from the Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA) and Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM) at State House, Nairobi.
He stressed the significance of regular consultations with economic, social, and political stakeholders for the successful implementation of his economic agenda, particularly emphasizing the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda.
"Successful implementation of the Bottom Up Economic Transformation Agenda requires constant consultation and engagement with economic, social and political stakeholders," Ruto said.
On Wednesday, President had a crucial telephone conversation with United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken regarding developments in Haiti.
Blinken briefed Ruto on the political situation in Haiti, following the resignation of Prime Minister Ariel Henry amid escalating violence.
In response, Ruto assured Blinken of Kenya's commitment to restoring peace and security in Haiti, pledging leadership in the UN Security Support Mission once an agreed process is in place.
Transitioning to Thursday, President Ruto embarked on a two-day development tour of Kericho and Bomet counties.
The tour aimed to launch and inspect various projects aligned with the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda.
In Kericho, Ruto inaugurated the Belgut Technical Training Institute digital hub, a project designed to equip youth with digital skills for enhanced economic opportunities.
During a roadside rally in Kericho town, President Ruto expressed his administration's accomplishments in revitalizing Kenya's economy, citing improvements in the exchange rate and fuel prices.
He reiterated his commitment to prudent fiscal management, emphasizing the importance of reducing borrowing and fostering local revenue generation for sustainable development.
“Kenya’s economy was in the trenches but I have saved it. Now, as you can see, even the dollar price has gone down and things are in order,” Ruto said.
Later that evening, President Ruto traveled to Zanzibar for a meeting with Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni and Tanzania's President Samia Suluhu.
The summit focused on matters pertaining to the East African Community, with discussions centered on regional integration and prosperity. Ruto highlighted the historical significance of East African cooperation and reaffirmed support for further integration efforts.
On Saturday, the President in the company of his deputy, Gachagua were in Bomet county.
The duo spent their Saturday in Bomet county where President Ruto inspected and launched various projects.
He launched the rehabilitation and upgrading of 10Km of Urban Roads in Bomet County.
The urban roads project according to Kenya Urban Roads Authority ( KURA) will enhance accessibility of people, goods and services as well as give the Town a major facelift.
Ruto also inspected the progress of affordable housing in the county.
Concluding his week, President Ruto engaged in telephone conversations with global leaders, including Canada Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Prime Minister of The Bahamas Philip Davis, regarding the ongoing violence in Haiti.
He reiterated Kenya's commitment to supporting Haiti during its time of need, underscoring solidarity and cooperation in addressing crises.
