Ruto appoints Ex-MP Washiali State agency board chair

Ruto named Silas Simatwo the chairperson of the Digital Health Agency.

President William Ruto has made new appointments to various state agencies.

The President has appointed Benjamin Washiali to be the chairperson of the Board of the Tourism Regulatory Authority.

In a gazette notice dated March 13, Ruto said Washiali will serve for three years.

Washiali will start his responsibilities as the chairperson effective March 15, 2024.

The President further revoked the appointment of Halima Yussuf Mucheke.

The President also appointed Silas Simatwo the chairperson of the Digital Health Agency.

Simatwo will serve for three years effective March 15.

Cabinet Secretaries also made appointments to different state agencies.

Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen extended the term of the Taskforce on the Development of National Electric Mobility Policy, Strategy, Legislation and Regulations for three years effective February 20, 2024.

Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs CS Salim Mvurya appointed Shukran Gure a member of the Board of Directors of the Kenya Fisheries Service for three years effective March 15, 2024

Health CS Susan Nakhumicha appointed William Baraza and Gregory Ganda as members of the Digital Health Agency for three years.

The duo will begin their roles on March 15.

Tourism, Wildlife and Heritage CS Alfred Mutua appointed Francis Chachu Ganya to be a member of the Kenya Wildlife Service Board for three years, with effect from March 15, 2024.

The CS revoked the appointment of Chris Foot.

Education CS Ezekiel Machogu has appointed Hassan Rajab Sumba, Elizabeth Njambi Munene Muchane, Edward O. V. Odhong (Dr.), Keter Julius Kipkogei (Dr.) as members of the Board of Directors of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority for a period three years.

Investments, Trade, and Industry CS Rebecca Miano has appointed  Anthony Muriuki Munyiri to be the chairperson of the National Standards Council, for three years effective March 15, 2024.

The CS also appointed Benson Rokitari Ngoriakou, Joel Tenui (Dr.), and Christine Mwai Marandu members of the Warehouse Receipt System Council, for three years effective March 15, 2024.

Information, Communications and the Digital Economy CS Eliud Owalo appointed Esther Kagiri to be a member of the Council of the Kenya Institute of Mass Communication, for three years effective March 15.

Labour and Social Protection CS Florence Bore appointed David Kariuki Njeru to be a Trustee and Chairperson of the National Social Security Fund Board of Trustees for three years, with effect from March 15, 2024.

CS Bore also appointed Ali Wario to be the Chairperson of the National Council for Occupational Safety and Health for three years effective March 15, 2024.

Gender, Culture, the Arts and Heritage CS Aisha Jumwa appointed Chris Foot to be a member of the Board of Directors of the National Museums of Kenya for three years, with effect from March 15, 2024.
