Security expert George Musamali.

It is only a reckless government that will toss its police service members to the quagmire that is Haiti.

I would urge the government to abort this mission. Haiti needs a political solution and not a security intervention.

Our President needs to have a closer look at the history of this Caribbean country.

Haitians were the first slaves to revolt and kick out their masters and declare independence after revolting against the French.

They formed their own country and this has never gone down well with the racial subjugators. It is an open secret that they have been spiritedly determined not to see Haiti take off as a nation of black people.

Upon the country’s formation, their first president was ousted and the United States came in and in two instances their boots-on-the-ground strategy failed. A multinational UN mission has also been to Haiti and failed.

Prime Minister Ariel Henry has resigned. But do you believe he resigned? His purported resignation has been reported by Guyana’s leader, but he has not spoken. I believe Henry has been ousted, like many previous Haitian leaders.

The so-called criminal gangs in Haiti are not your ordinary gangs because they don't break into homes and banks. If you listen to them, they are agitating for political rights.

They are campaigning against leaders imposed by the west. That is why they did not allow Henry back because he was imposed by the United States and had refused to call an election. Remember, one man's freedom fighter is another's terrorist or, in this case, a criminal gang.

Haitians have never been allowed to have democracy and be led by a leader of their choosing. The solution that will help the country is a political settlement.

It would be reckless and irresponsible to kowtow to the west without interrogating the country’s dynamics and see whether our country is better served by taking our officers to this mission.

Our officers are not mentally prepared for this adventure. In terms of equipment, I see some argument that Americans are giving us money for this mission, but this mission is not a combat mission.
