CBC will be fully implemented - DP Gachagua

The Government will fully implement the Competency-Based Curriculum for learners to gain key skills for development, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has said.

Speaking at Nyahururu Munyaka Mixed Secondary School in Laikipia County, on Monday, the Deputy President said the Kenya Kwanza  Administration is keen on implementing reforms in the Education Sector to meet the nation's development needs.

"This year, the Government committed 27% of our budget to education to, among other issues, support implementation of the Presidential Working Party Recommendations. We are implementing the CBC, besides the funding model to allow for more students to access quality education," the Deputy President said.

In the 2023-2024 financial year, the Government allocated over Sh628 billion to the Education Sector.

Gachagua assured parents and other stakeholders in the Education Sector that the reforms will deliver a better workforce.

He also said that the government will continue upgrading school infrastructure and other gaps that negatively impact education.

To support the completion of the Nyahururu Munyaka Mixed Secondary School dining hall, the Deputy President delivered Sh5 million and promised that a similar amount would be allocated to the school in the next financial year.

He further asked the area MP Wachira Karani to allocate Sh3 Million from the Constituency Development Fund to complete the dining hall.

The Deputy President made these remarks during a tour of Laikipia County.

As he went to Laikipia West, the Deputy President also assured landowners of Maina Village in Nyahururu town of the government's desire to grant them the land's title deeds within the following six months.

"We are working on the title deeds for the residents here in Maina village because they have been asking for them for a long time. We want to ensure you have the title deeds in the next six months," said the DP when he interacted with the locals on his development tour of the County.

In addition to the title deeds, the DP stated that the village's roads will be tarmacked. 

The DP added that to protect the locals from further harm, the government is addressing the conflict between humans and wildlife in the area.

"We want the people to enjoy the fruits of their labour in their farms without the fear of losing their investments to the wildlife here," assured the DP.

Regarding the battle against illegal alcohol and drug use, Gachagua pledged the government's commitment to fight the vice. 

He further emphasized how crucial it is for the area to support President Ruto collectively.

The Deputy President was joined by the Laikipia County Governor Joshua Irungu, his deputy governor among other leaders.
