A fire engine belonging to Machakos County Government overturned on Saturday in Matuu, Yatta subcounty.
The engine overturned after a self involved road accident on Marikiti - Kithimani Road in Yatta subcounty.
Witnesses said the accident happened at around 12 noon.
"The vehicle's driver disappeared immediately after the accident. His whereabouts are yet to be known," a witness told the Star hours after the incident.
Sources told the Star the vehicle was responding to a fire incident when it overturned.
The vehicle is stationed at Matuu Level 4 hospital within Matuu town in Yatta subcounty.
The course of accident was not immediately established.
