She was my pillar! Ex-Kipipiri MP Amos Kimunya mourns wife

Former Kipipiri MP Amos Kimunya is in mourning following the death of his wife, Lucy.

Announcing on Tuesday, Kimunya who was also the former Majority Leader in the 12th Parliament said his wife passed away while receiving treatment at Nairobi Hospital.

"It is with deep sorrow and humble acceptance of God’s will that I wish to announce that this Tuesday at 3 am, my dear wife Lucy went to be with the lord while receiving care at Nairobi Hospital," he said.

Eulogizing his wife, Kimunya said that she was the key pillar in both his personal and political life.

Praising her good deeds, the former MP noted that his wife contributed immensely to making the society greener through various initiatives.

He also noted that his wife was a supporter of the youth and women.

Kimunya said he will miss his wife, adding that further communication will be made.

"Go well our dear Lucy, we will miss you dearly. Further communication to follow," he said.

The former Kipipiri MP has served under two  Presidents; The late Mwai Kibaki and Former President Uhuru Kenyatta .

He occupied various positions both in Cabinet and Parliament. 

Kimunya was appointed Minister of Lands in 2002 before moving to the Finance docket in 2006 following the resignation of David Mwiraria. 

Kimunya resigned from Cabinet in July 2008 only to be reappointed by Mwai Kibaki to the Trade docket five months later. 

He clinched the seat in 2017 under the Jubilee Alliance Party, dethroning former MP Samuel Gichigi who ran on the Alliance Party of Kenya (APK) party.

 On June 22, 2019 Kimunya replaced Formr Garissa Township MP Aden Duale ( now CS for Defence) for the position of majority leader of the National Assembly.

However, after 15 years, Kimunya lost the Kipiriri seat to  United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate Wanjiku Muhia.
