State to create more digital jobs for youths, says Ruto

Head of State says Kenya Kwanza will also send more Kenyans for jobs abroad

About 20,000 computers have been distributed in Kenya creating digital  job opportunities for 120,000 youth, President William Ruto has said.

Speaking during a three-day development tour of Meru on Friday, the Head of State further said Kenya Kwanza will create more digital jobs and send more Kenyans to jobs abroad.

''Already 120,000 youths are now doing digital jobs in different parts of Kenya'' he said.

''It is our plan as a government to ensure that there is employment in our country; we will plan for jobs in Kenya and abroad because we live in a global village.''

The president urged the people to take their children to school because his government has employed 56,000 new teachers.

''We have employed 56,000 new teachers who will help us to educate our children'' he said.

President Ruto also launched the construction of Timau Affordable Housing Programme in Buuri  Meru county.

''Launched the construction of the Timau Affordable Housing Programme in Buuri, Meru county. The 320-unit project will create over 4,000 jobs, injecting more than 230 million into the economy'' he said.

The President also said the government is intentionally investing in labor-intensive projects to employ skilled and energetic youths.

''The government is intentionally investing in labour-intensive projects like the affordable Housing to expand opportunities to our youth'' he tweeted.

''The focus is to ensure that we engage these skilled, energetic and talented young people in productive work that will drive our growth.''
