Saboti MP Caleb Amisi has welcomed Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale back to the ODM party following his meeting with former governor and ODM deputy party leader Wycliffe Oparanya.

In a statement on X, Amisi said that Khalwale had read the signs of what was to come early and made a good choice.

He insisted that the ODM party would form the next government.

The Saboti MP's remarks come hours after Khalwale held a six-hour meeting with Oparanya on Sunday, at his Butere home.

Despite his remarks, Senator Khalwale who was elected to the ruling party United Democratic Alliance has not announced if he plans to switch parties.

During the meeting, Khalwale was accompanied by other leaders from Kakamega county including MPs and MCAs.

"Today, I held fruitful discussions with the immediate former governor of Kakamega, Oparanya, in a six-hour-long meeting at his home at Mabole in Butere. I thank him for hosting my team of elders and me and committing himself to our resolutions. Special thanks to all other leaders who witnessed the momentous Mabole declaration," he said on X.

The two leaders vowed to work together ahead of 2027 when Khalwale is seeking to vie for the position of Governor.

The Orange party enjoys massive support in the Western Kenya county and has seen the first and second governors come from ODM.

Last year, Khalwale who unsuccessfully sought the Kakamega governor's seat in 2017 announced that he will give it another shot in the next general elections.
