NYS announces jobs vacancies for its graduates in UK

The National Youth Service has called on its graduates with Agriculture-related skills to apply for seasonal worker jobs in the United Kingdom.

The successful NYS graduates will provide UK farmers with labour, in efforts to meet their workforce demands.

"We write to inform our esteemed Alumni of opportunities that exist  in the UK, particularly to graduates with Agriculture qualifications."

They will work within the horticulture sector in the UK.

"Applications should be done by filling in your details on the Google form before Friday, December 1, 2023.

"The successful recruits will reside and work in the fruit and vegetable sector for a period of Six (6) months tentatively from February 2024," the NYS Employment Liaison office said.

The Scheme is dubbed “The Seasonal Worker Scheme (SWS)” was introduced to NYS by the Kenya High Commissioner to the UK.

A recruitment firm named HOPs Labour Solutions, which is an authorised operator in the UK has been introduced to the National Youth Service to carry out the recruitment exercise.

To qualify, one must be a National Youth Service graduate with Agriculture-related Courses, willing to reside and work in the UK for six months and return at the end of the contract.

The applicants must also have the ability to finance the following; a passport processing fee at approximately Sh6,550, a return ticket (direct) of Sh192,500, a Visa application fee of Sh45,325, and a sustainability amount of Sh30,000 to support their living costs until the first pay is received. (The costs given above are estimates)

One must also be highly motivated and interested in practical farming, medically and physically fit, and be available to turn up for briefing and interviews at NYS Yatta Field Unit on December 7, 2023.
