Last stretch: Candidates wrap up KCSE with physics practical exam

Some 903,260 candidates are sitting this year’s KCSE exam.

Form Four candidates are set to sit the final paper in the 2023 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education on Friday. The exams started on October 23.

The last paper the candidates will be sitting for is Physics Paper 3 which is purely practical.

On Monday, they sat for Geography Paper 1 and Physics Paper 1.

The learners sat Business Studies Paper 1 and Agriculture Paper 1 on Tuesday.

Geography Paper 2 and Physics Paper 2 was done on Wednesday.

The candidates sat for Business Paper 2 and Agriculture Paper 2 on Thursday.

Some 903,260 candidates are sitting this year’s KCSE exam.

As the exams come to an end, there have been notable incidents that have taken place some including students and officials.

In Budalangi, a candidate gave birth in the dormitory but was cleared to continue sitting her exams. 

In Machakos, four candidates sat the exam after they delivered safely. 

The most recent was a teacher, Ahmed Nur Ismail, who was killed by helicopter blades in Garissa County in the process of picking the exam papers. 

Teachers Service Commission mourned the death of the Acting Deputy Headteacher of Handaro Primary School in Garissa County.

TSC CEO Nancy Macharia said Ahmed will be remembered for his distinguished world-class teaching and school management services during his six-year employment with the TSC.

She described him as an outstanding ICT champion in Garissa County whose services will be dearly missed.

"On behalf of the Teachers Service Commission, I extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends. We wish the family courage and peace during this time of mourning. Please accept our deepest sympathies," Macharia said.

Also, some police officers who were escorting KCSE papers were ambushed and killed in Siaya County.
