KCPE: Celebrations rock Homa Bay schools after posting good results

Schools in Homa Bay broke out in celebration after they posted good results in the KCPE exam released on Thursday by Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu.

Some of the schools that performed well included Janeiro Junior Academy, St Antonny Wachara Christian School and Father Scheuffer Boys Primary Boarding School.

Other schools were Ober Boys Boarding Primary School, Ratanga Mixed Primary School and Gendia Primary.

At Janeiro Junior Academy, Joy Akinyi got 419 marks followed by Otieno Jefferson Odhiambo with 412 marks.

Okumu Jesse Otieno got 408 marks while Ochieng Cindy Clarah got 397 marks.

At Antonny Wachara Christian School, Karla Flavia Owino got 407 marks.

Neecy Adhiambo got 392 marks, Cherryl Apondi Otieno had 397, Emmilian Akelo Michael got 389, and Byron Stanley Okello got 379.

At Father Scheuffer, Annan Mboya got 407, Aden Mboya 401, Nickson Wara 400 and Fiona Pascal 398.

At Ober Primary School, over 10 candidates got over 390 marks with Ron Spencer Baraka getting 400 marks, Gyan Daniel (398 marks), Elmad Okoth (397 marks) and Soul Jones (396 marks) among others.

At Gendia Primary School, Rockliff Ambaka Odhiambo got 405.  

At St Anthony Little Angel Education Center in Homa Bay Alan Mike got 387, Winsly Mary got 387 and Anjel Adalia got 385.

At St Peter’s Capeview, Fidel Carson got 406.

Michael Agwanda of Antonny Wachara Christian School said they performed well because they completed the syllabus on time.

“Teachers undertook their work diligently by completing the syllabus on time. The candidates were also prepared for the exams,” Agwanda said.

Janeiro Junior Academy headteacher Philip Aduda said they had improved by getting a mean score of 392 compared to the 383 they got last year.

“We realized good performance because of cooperation between teachers and parents,” Aduda said.

Gendia's Primary School head teacher Patrick Were described his pupils as hard-working.

“It was the hard work of our pupils and teachers that gave us the good performance,” Were said.

Ratanga Primary School headteacher David Sabare received an upward performance in this year’s KCPE.

“Among the best-performed candidates is Macrine Achieng who got 375 marks. This can be attributed to the lack of interference in the education calendar,” Sabare said.
