Kenya Pipeline has allocated Sh5 million for the construction of a science complex at Alliance Girls High School.
The investment by the company's philanthropic arm, KPC Foundation, will improve the learning environment of the more than 420 students at the school.
The company says that the investment will augment the earlier provision by the Oil Marketing Companies and will see the construction of eight science laboratories.
“We are dedicated to enhancing education and fostering growth within our community. We recognise the pivotal role educational institutions play in shaping the future," Trustee of KPC Foundation Irene Wachira said.
"Through this investment, we seek to promote inclusive learning by addressing community needs and working with partners to empower parents and learners.”
Up to now, the foundation has invested Sh2.5 million worth of ablution block at Uthiru Primary School and another Sh2.5 million in constructing an administration block and renovation of classrooms at Nachu Primary School. Both schools are in Kiambu county.
The company said that since the inception of the foundation in 2016, it has spent more than Sh172 million on educational services.
This has been done through improvement of infrastructure and ancillary equipment and construction of eight laboratories in different in schools across the counties.
The foundation has a flagship programme which awards scholarships to deserving students from needy backgrounds.
The Inuka Scholarship is also designed to empower learners with disabilities.
Some 658 needy and disabled children from across the country have benefited from the programme.
Annually, 94 students are enrolled in the programme at a cost of Sh60 million. This money covers school fees, basic needs, mentoring, psychosocial support, and leadership development, the company said.
Fourteen students from Kiambu county have benefited from the scholarship programme.
