Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti has unveiled new blue uniforms for county inspectorate officers in a move aimed at rooting out quacks who masquerade as enforcement officers.
In a statement, the Machakos county boss stated that there were reports concerning some retired officers who were donning old uniforms and unlawfully exercising inspectorate duties despite being discharged from service.
''Today I'm happy to unveil a new blue uniform for our Inspectorate officers as part of our rebranding strategy and in order to weed out imposters who have been misusing the old grey uniform after being discharged from service," she said.
The inspectorate officers' mandate is to ensure compliance to Values and Principles of the Public Service in their areas of jurisdiction.
They are also tasked with preparing and forwarding reports on all inspectorate matters at the subcounty level and ensure compliance personnel welfare is catered for at the county.
Ndeti called on the officers to be humane in the enforcement of law and order especially when dealing with people living with disabilities or other vulnerable groups of people.
Governor Ndeti assured the officers that the county government will continue to equip the officers with necessary skills and tools to perform their functions.
"To our officers, I have confidence in you to ensure the enforcement of revenue collection. Let us work as a team to prosper our county," she said.
Ndeti assured that this move will help stop further incidences as the county sets course to bettering its revenue collection and oversee plans set being achieved.
