Delegates have started trooping into the historic Bomas of Kenya where President William Ruto is set to chair a key part organ meeting that brings together all leaders elected on his United Democratic Alliance party.

The UDA party is holding its first National Governing Council meeting since Ruto romped to power in last year's Presidential polls.

The meeting of the NGC is set to endorse proposed changes to the UDA constitution including picking two more deputy party leaders.

Those expected to attend the meeting include governors, Senators, members of the National Assembly and members of the County Assemblies elected on the UDA ticket.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua who is the current sole deputy party leader is also set to attend the meeting that gets underway amid plans to have two more people picked for the strategic position.

Ruto is planned to arrive at the venue moments after 10 am to lead the part NGC at a time when his administration is under immense pressure to deliver on campaign pledges.

The UDA party is also holding the key meeting amid perceived rifts over calls to have all constituent parties in the Kenya Kwanza government merge ahead of the 2027 polls.

Ruto is seeking to build momentum by first fastening loose nuts within his UDA outfit which threaten his political ambitions.

Among top UDA heavyweights who have arrived at the venue include governors Anne Waiguru (Kirinyaga),  Susan Kihika(Nakuru), Simon Kachapin (West Pokot) Nandi's Stephen Sang' and National Assembly Majority Whip Silvanus Osoro.

Leaders have been tight-lipped about the agenda of the NGC but the UDA constitution stipulates that the organ has powers to act on behalf of the National Delegates Convention (NDC) to make key decisions including amending the constitution.

The party is gearing up for grassroots and national elections in December with the current officials only serving on an interim basis.

"We have arrived here and we are ready for the meeting as you can see, " Osoro said as he arrived at the Bomas of Kenya.
