Kenya Volleyball Federation’s sports organizing secretary, Ismail Chege anticipates fierce competition in the upcoming KVF Playoffs.

At the same time, Chege has called on fans to turn out in large numbers for the event, set to run from October 2-4 at the Moi International Sports Centre (MISC), Kasarani.

Chege said, "I believe the competition will be very high during the playoffs as there are many seasoned teams participating. Every team will be fighting for the top spot and a chance in the African Championships”

The playoffs are set to feature four teams in the men's and women's categories apiece.

In the men's category, defending champions General Service Unit (GSU) will be seeking to retain their title, starting with a match against Kenya Defence Forces.

They will then face Kenya Ports Authority and a resurgent Kenya Prisons team. Kenya Prisons, on the other hand, will kick off their campaign against Kenya Ports Authority.

In the women's category, Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC), led by coach Paul Gitau, aims to maintain their hold on the national crown while Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) seek to secure their first domestic title since 2006.

Completing the women's category are the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and Kenya Prisons. KPC will face DCI, while Kenya Prisons will take on KCB on the opening day of the tournament.

Chege also noted that the federation will convene a technical meeting on Friday. “We will be having a technical meeting this Friday so that we can determine the uniforms and colours of the participating teams,” said Chege.
